Azar Diamond is by Arezzo VDL (Jur Vrieling) which has five generations of Grand Prix Showjumper in a row: Chin Chin, Heartbreaker, Renville, Jasper and Akteur- which have also sired Grand Prix jumpers. Arezzo’s dam Sarjolijn is ‘Ster and Prestatie’ and is also the dam of international jumpers Zodermus M and Bubka VDL. Sarjolijn is also the half sister to International showjumper Dragonfly (Nicole Shahinian-Simpson) and three time Hamburg Derby winner Nacorde (Andre Thieme).
Arezzo was Champion of the KWPN Spring Stallion Test. Ridden by Jessica Kuerten and Jur Vrieling, Arezzo has achieved many successes in sport. The 2017 KWPN Stallion Show was a highlight with Arezzo being awarded the predicate ‘Keur’ for his excellence as a breeding sire. Several of his oldest offspring are currently jumping at the international 1.45m level. The youngsters are coming out strongly. His offspring stand out and are popular horses in auctions and with horse dealers.
Arezzo is currently placed in 19th position in the Promising sires rankings for the production of Showjumers, due to several approved sons and daughters placing highly at shows and Championships. His oldest offspring are already jumping at Grand Prix level. VDL Edgar M won 1.45m classes in Herning and Warschau. He was 2nd in the 1.45m at Chantilly, 3rd in the World Cup of Warschau and 5th in the GP Drachten. Emotion VDL clinched international victories in Asten and Drammen at age of 7 and at 8 years old, he placed 6th in 1.40m in Vilamoura. Electra B was 3rd in the GP of Kronenberg and Fendt BB won two classes in Darmstadt. Ginus won two classes in San Giovanni di Marignano and Garezzo placed 2nd in the 6-year olds in Busto Arsizio. Hilfiger VDL won two classes in Opglabbeek. More internationally successful offspring of Arezzo are: Evita W, Eclips 2, Elrite Jr, Erante, Easy Again HBC, Farezzo du Lys, Farik, First of April CL, Forland, Picobello Jasmine etc. Farah became reserve champion in the KWPN Championship for 7-year olds and Guppie VDL placed 3rd in the Championship for 6-year olds. Harwich VDL placed 8th in the Final of the World Championships for 5-year old jumpers in Lanaken.
Arezzo's sire Chin Chin needs almost no introduction with his name in the top lists. In 1988 he won five competitions in the North American Champion League Circuit. At the Olympic Games in Seoul he was 6th individually. Four years later he attended the Olympic Games in Barcelona . In 1990 Chin Chin started in the inaugural World Equestrian Games in Stockholm. In 1989 and in 1990 he placed in the finals of the World Cup in Dortmund and Tampa. and the sire of Arezzo VDL, Triomphe de Muze and the exceptional foundation mare Querly Chin. he is also the dam sire of London Individual Silver medallist Glock's London.
The dam sire of Arezzo is Heartbreaker the KWPN Horse of the Year at the 2016. The Nimmerdor Trophy was presented to his owners, Team Nijhof and the Bosch Brothers, as a life-time achievement award. The citation notes:
"As a young horse this Nimmerdor-son was already remarkably eager, with a fighting spirit and always super careful. He competed at the highest level with Peter Geerink and leaves his mark on his offspring like no other. His jumping abilities, reflexes, character and carefulness that he always showed in the course are now the trademarks of his children".
